I read it just after it was first published. Still have it somewhere. Might even be on the nightstand next to my bed.
I do not expect the movie to be the book. I expect it to be better in some ways and, as with all Alan Moore stories made into movies, much worse in others.
It is best to forget the book before seeing the movie. That way you can appreciate the movie for what it is, not what you expected. That happened to me with "The Crow". I was a great fan of the book and the movie lacked. A few years later, after the details of the book faded, I saw the movie again and it was pretty good.
