Oh, this was really sweet (though terrible for Neal, of course!). I liked that what happened to him was rather low-key, in the grand scheme of things, as opposed to OTT awful and devastating, but was still extremely traumatizing for the poor kid. (Er, I don't think I'm explaining this very well; I guess what I'm trying to get across is that smaller things can be just as traumatizing and devastating as being, say, held captured and tortured for months, and I'm glad that this was treated as the big deal that it was for him, and that he had full sympathy and support from Peter.)

Thank you so much for your thoughtful comments. I understand exactly what you're saying. There are two lines I don't think I could ever cross (at least not in this 'verse) and this was one of them. Peter the lawman would completely understand how to help Neal get through the telling of his story, even if Peter the friend wished it had never happened. As both friend and lawman Peter would do whatever it takes to help Neal through this, even if it was a long time ago.
