Wrote a sentimental song yesterday. Feel a little better to have it written down.

I took part of your face and made it my own
You were breathing out, and breathing in
Sometimes when you held me I still felt alone
But if I started to cry your face turned to stone
Keep the scarf, I want my pet name back
The tide must flood in before it retracts

And if you want it to end you've gotta let me know
Don't just take me hand and go play in the snow
You want me to tell you that I'll be fine
You want me to say what on your face is mine
You want me to say it's the end of our book
And we'll both give back the things we took
We'll both give back the things we took

Sounds like moving furniture inside your chest
Someone moving out, or moving in
It's not that I don't think you tried your best
I watched you lose your trees in the final test
Keep the hat, I want my locket back
The tide must flood in before it retracts

And if you want it to end you've gotta let me know
Don't just kiss my neck and go sleep in the snow
You want me to tell you that I'll be fine
You want me to say what on your face is mine
You want me to say it's the end of our book
And we'll both give back the things we took
We'll both give back the things we took

I want to put my fingers where your stitches are
And pull them out, push them in
Tear and rip and scream until I leave a scar
Then give back the notes I learned on your guitar
You offer my bones but I don't want em back
The tide must flood in before it retracts

And if you want it to end you've gotta let me know
Don't just say my name and go die in the snow
I wanted to tell you that I'm gonna be fine
But I'm never gonna say what on your face was mine
We've come to the point where I'll close the book
And we'll both give back the things we took
We'll both give back the things we took

The verses and refrain sound too similar in my head right now. Wish I had a better idea of how to find the chords I think I'm hearing.
