Good to hear from you and Happy New Year!

I've been rather absent myself what with work and Christmas prep etc. Thinking your son and his girlfriend must have run off on or around the 3rd weekend of December as I live in the Ottawa area. We've had some nasty blizzards. Luckily a marriage event in Maui will be more to your liking and joy!

Blessing on you and yours!

I think Ottawa was spared this one. But it did hit Niagara Falls -- home of the kitschy wedding chapels of the world -- which it was until Las Vegas (and probably Atlantic City) became even kitschier and more well known.

By the way, is it true you have to wait 20 days in Canada before you can marry?

I have no idea on waiting periods unless it is a requirement of the religion or church they are taking their vows.

Believe me we got hit pretty hard up our way too. Lost a number of trees on our property, power outages and a couple of days of digging out. I'm just 15 minutes from Ottawa in rural zone.

Most of Niagara Falls is pretty kitschy unfortunately (tragically) and has changed since 25-30 years. Not a fun place to go unless one focuss specifically on the Falls themselves.

I've done a Google Earth on Ottawa. Parts of Ottawa seem to be near a vast park. Is that where you are?

Congratulations on the marriage of your son. I'm sure the 2nd wedding in Hawaii will be more to your liking.

Good to hear from you, i have been wondering if all was well with you.

Hope the New Year will be a wonderful one for you.

Thanks. They've been going together for 6 years but on opposite ends of the world, he in Hawaii and she in Canada. Still will be apart waiting for immigration papers. My son's life is always interesting.

"Making people crazy with my moanings and worries and feelings of doom over the world." Hell if you've been doing that you're filtering me out of a lot of posts. I find you posts more fact based than moaning.

Best wishes to Mike and Dasha.
