The weather and the tv

*Well*. It's not like I'm unfamiliar with sun showers. But what we just had - both the intensity and duration, and the way the rest of the local weather wasn't just sunny but pretty blazingly hot - was unusual ( Read more... )

Was it me? I did a review of episode one, and meant to continue but all I've done so far is to cap episode 2. Must get back to that.

Ah, yes! Yeah, screencaps would be awesome, since all the time I was watching I was thinking "look at the *light*"! and generally impressed with how eerything looked. And I'd be up for discussion, now that I actually know what was going on.

...I *don't* know about all the Greek mythology and relevance, but what I did understand was excellent enough.

I'll probably head to bed in a minute, but feel free - I'll catch up.

"look at the *light*"
Oh yeah. That northern hemisphere diffuseness that we just don't get here, and the long twilights (episode 2 was good for that IIRC).

I'm not completely sure about the mythological connections either, except that it's a "journey", like an Odyssey, for Hallgrim, and the end is where he began, in Iceland.

So what do you think of the characters? Mine - well, let's just say I was gutted at the end :( really, I'm still in denial.

I noticed the light especially early on. It may well have been ep 2. There was a bit in the airport (I think) where it was so bright in through the windows yet clearly so different to Australian light. And then the landscape in the last couple of episodes, when he finally got to Iceland - when he was driving through the (dawn? or twilight) I kept thinking how different it looked and how it would feel to either be home at last (or to be back in this place you'd grown up in but wasn't home). Like how I feel when I get back to WA after Europe. Mind you, I don't know exactly how different that landscape is to Denmark ( ... )

Melbourne's always gotten stinking hot in January, actually, hence half of Victoria always being on fire in Summer.
