Vastly different things

Disconcerting to have missed a day of news, and the unusually-bad 14 dead in bushfires news (that I was also taken by surprise by, on Saturday) suddenly becoming 130+. Somewhat astonishing to me is the Queen ("of Australia") noticing and making a statement ( Read more... )

I am envious of your vegetable getting. It always seems to cost a fortune to get the vegies I want, partly because they always must come packaged in amounts larger than I want. Sometimes I just want two spring onions and not 25, you know?

Vegetables, in my experience, are the cheapest way to eat if you´re prepared to be flexible and buy what´s cheap at the moment rather than seting your heart on something in particular. It also helps if you can preserve them in some way: excess beans, for instance, can be parboiled and frozen.
