Rain! It's raining! After four or five false alarm possible thunderstorms over the past few weeks. After a few instances of two or three raindrops on my windscreen since summer began. I've been going out and standing in it, and grinning at random people at the shops like I haven't done since last time we won back the Ashes ( Read more... )

Hey!

Pretty good :)

Still haven't posted my next recap of Ornen. Watched East West 101 recently, which was cool (there's a comm for it on Dreamwidth).

And the usual (Pros).

Excellent. I loved both season 1 and 2 of East West 101; hope the third season shows up soon (and is good!)

I've been watching the Danish thriller The Killing on SBS (can't remember the proper name, it's long), which reminds me that I keep meaning to talk more about Ornen. Danish tv has been pretty good to me.

I have a vaguely percolating post in my head about how much I like the Pros episode in which Bodie hits his girlfriend (Close Quarters, I think), but I need to figure out how to phrase it so it doesn't sound WTF? It's essentially about how the show treats it as obviously wrong and shocking, but without labouring the point, because they assume the audience is on side with it being obviously wrong and shocking.

Somewhere or other I made a comment that the slap is a typically wrought "man hits hysterical woman" moment, but Julia doesn't seem at all "hysterical" at that point, merely afraid - so it more emphasises that Bodie is out of his depth in the situation.

I think that could well be how the actual slap is framed - like, it's just that *thing* that people do? (craply, but yeah). And then straight afterwards Bodie is shocked, as she is, and the audience. I agree about it showing how Bodie is out of his depth. It might be my favourite episode after Mixed Doubles for showing the similarities between B&D and the "bad guys", since the main terrorist is continually talking about how he isn't different to Bodie, isn't worse - and I don't think that's true because their goals are different - but he's right about how Bodie is a violent guy, and what that means. That's what I think the slap shows. Violence isn't segregatable, and affects/corrupts your whole life.

Also, I found out that the guy who plays Nazim has the exact same birthday - day and year - as I do.

I hope to be back around this way more. I've missed you guys.

Where I was it was just an ordinary rainfall - no hail or anything, but any rain after so long was awesome.

Oh, and I saw the Dr Who bit where there was that aerial photo of the Swan. Fantastic!

See you soon; hope preparations aren't too taxing.

Nah. The wedding has been a cinch to plan for. The hen's night is proving more of a headache, and I thought that would be simple!

Fine.

Welcome back?

Rain is wonderful. We've seen quite a bit over here for one reason or another. I, however, am appreciative of rain and don't wish for it to go away.

You are right, though, that it only takes a few days before people wishing it would shove off and leave us with our usual hot weather. Then another few before they wish it were back.

Fickle humans.

How you going?

I've been hearing bout yr cyclone and hoping you've been ok. We've got a weird relationship with rain to be sure. In general I think it's great but sometimes you do want to go outside without protective equipment.

I *was* doing pretty good, weird phobia against checking LJ aside, but as you can see from my last post I had to go to hospital for a bit. I think that was largely a false alarm for the most part, just needing to be rehydrated generally. As I have been whinging, they didn't even see fit to give me the good drugs, thus certainly making a hospital stay pretty tedious.
