"I have never slept outside before," Mary says, with wide eyes, and looks around at the covering of the trees.

"Except sometimes by accident - when I was tired and it was sunny. But not at night."

She sounds excited.

"Because they're rather good," she laughs. "Especially with cheese or meat. Or brown sugar. Which we might have."

She knows they have it.
