Commando shopping!

Aug 26, 2006 17:48

No, not shopping while bare-assed, but rather my own particular style of shopping--being a bargain commando. In the spirit of my resolution to learn all that the LA bus system has to offer, I took the Big Blue Bus to 3rd Street Promenade in Santa Monica. Apparently, it was Sri Lanka Day, go figure. I walked around, did much browsing through the ( Read more... )

Bwahah!

I was flicking down the list and all I managed to read of this post was the word 'Bukkake'. Somehow my eye managed to ferret out that one single word, made me stop and go 'huh?'. Commando shopping bukkake?

Says far too much about me. :P

Oh, shopping. How I wish I had the funds to even do sales type shopping.

Which reminds me, I need help finding designer jeans with a short-enough inseam, and I figured you might have some ideas since we're similar sizes. I wear 26W x 30L, and usually the only jeans I can find that fit perfectly are Diesel (and I don't really like the look of most of their styles). Do you possibly have any ideas for other brands I could look into, oh fashion maven? Sorry to bug you. :)

I hate shorts too. :D

My favorite brand of jeans is Habitual. I got my pair at Barney's in NYC, but I think Nordstrom, Saks, and a few other stores carry them--they're great jeans because they make your legs look long, they're not too low-waisted and sit just right on the waist, and the seam design on the back pockets is really cute (a Maltese cross). I also like Citizen of Humanity, Antik Denim (be forewarned, this brand's jeans don't have a lot of crotch room, but they do look very cute on petite women), James jeans (although the denim used by this brand is very thin, which makes them less durable and long-lasting), Paper Denim & Cloth, and Blue Cult. True Religion only has one style that isn't tacky ('Joey'), but the rest of their line is fugly (especially the ones that have stupid rainbow thread seaming and crap on the pockets, which remind me of little girl Osh Kosh jeans--it looks childish and cheap). I don't like Sevens and Joe's jeans (ugly washes), or Rock and Republic (kind of tacky-looking and run pretty large so they don't fit petite figures ( ... )

Diesel is pretty much the only designer-ish jean that comes in shorter inseams.

That's what I was afraid of! I've tried almost all the others you mentioned except Habitual, and I'm so tired of sloppy-looking folded up bottoms. But I will totally try your suggestion to get the hem reattached. I get a lot of my pants altered, but jeans! I never thought that would work - always thought it would look stupid and obvious. Thanks very much for your input! I appreciate the time you spent.

Someone steered me here for your Sarkney, but:

"there was a cute pair of charcoal skinny leg dress slacks with buttons down the ankles-they caught my eye because they were so reminiscent of the military style skinny pants with buttoned ankles that Nicholas Ghesquiere did when he first started at Balenciaga"

Very impressed with your fashion knowledge too :)
