My awesomer than awesome fanmix!

Mar 19, 2008 18:33

Dedicated to my favorite dancer on "America's Best Dance Crew" and his ability to be completely devoid of facial expressions most of the time and yet be the sickest dancer I've ever seen.*g*

Zip file containing front and back CD art and 12 tracks.

Laconic: Tony Tran (Kaba Modern) )

Totally, I think the ulcer I got in college flared up again. Thanks a lot, America, that was a truly bullshit result.

Enjoy the mix!

P.S.: What's the plan for Friday night? Should I pick a restaurant here in Beverly Hills and make some reservations?

Dude, Tony Tran is awesome and this mix is awesomeeee! I'll be downloading.

Thanks.

(I hope it comes down to a Jabba/Kaba final. *crosses fingers*)

Any final that isn't Jabba vs. Kaba just makes no sense to me. It could happen, but that would be some major bullshit.

Tony is the BOMB. Period. ;)

You're most welcome and enjoy the mix!

It wouldn't make sense to me either but it is conceivable that SQ might get in there over Kaba. People are more easily impressed by their flashy tricks versus Kaba's less-flashy-but-more-impressive (to me, anyway) arsenal of skills. I think it'll boil down to how well they perform this week. And I hope Kaba fans will be mobilized after last week.

I've mostly been keeping my eye on the girls during their performances (So much love for Jia and Cindy!) and only recently discovered the awesomeness of the boys. More reason to put their performances on repeat. ;)

It's hard for non-dancers to appreciate the incredible technique underpinning what Kaba Modern does. Not to take away from Status Quo but their dancing is rooted more in sheer athleticism and acrobatics than technique and technical precision. Personally, I tend to go more for the latter than the former -- I'm a dancer and the little hip hop I've taken is enough for me to really get how difficult Kaba's style is; it's every bit as formally technique-based as everything I've learned in the ballet studio.

Everyone in Kaba is fantastic, without a doubt, but for me, the real standout of the crew is Tony. I call him The Surgeon -- his dancing is so precise and attenuated and perfect without being self-conscious, cold, or icily inaccessible, and I think his dancing has the best musicality out of all the dancers on the show bar none.

I'll have you know it took about two hours to nab this, starting at midnight last night, but I did it! Stupid dial-up. (I really wanted AO Technology, but I'd be damned if I was going to pay for it. :D) Oooh, I remember that hand thing Tony did to the last song...I'll miss him and the totally awesome Kaba who SHOULD have been in the finals.

So THANKS, and awwww, you made him a fanmix. So cute when you have a crush. ;)

Hah, I really appreciate the dedication! Dial up does take forever when it comes to downloading...well, anything.

So THANKS, and awwww, you made him a fanmix. So cute when you have a crush. ;)
I'm a dork -- his dancing really amazed me so I had to make a fanmix about him. And I like his lack of facial expressions...it really amuses me.
