We Got Married

I've become completely addicted to this South Korean reality show called 'We Got Married.' The concept is very interesting: the show casts eight Korean celebrities and put them together as 'married' couples so they can experience what it's like to live the life of a married. The directors match up the couples so the celebrities don't have any say ( Read more... )

That show has an interesting premise mostly because it has celebrities! Who else are on there? Maybe I'll just look at DramaWiki...and find a torrent because streaming sites kill me. :D

Oh my heart, Hyunjoong? The guy who will be playing the Korean version of Hanazawa Rui? Now I REALLY must watch! Haha.

Oh, this show is still an ongoing thing? Because I wondered about that and filming for BOF. I think I'd definitely watch the show for him since he is the closest I can relate to (and from the little I've seen? Why can't I find a boy like that?). It is rather difficult though as he looks somewhat similar to this intern at the hospital who I'm crushing on just a wee bit and had inadvertently told him his girlfriend was a slut (it is true, but still). >.>

It would be interesting to see this set-up on Western reality shows, but I think a show with this format would work best here in Asia because there's the culture of trying to stick it out and work it (to their last dying breath? XD). Also, I don't think they'd get high profile celebs to do this, and watching the D-list strut it out in the gossip blogs are already enough for me.

Yup, it's still ongoing THANK GOD YAY!

Tee hee, well, he's got four bandmates who could each use the care and love of a nice girl, take your pick. ;)

Oh, definitely. Even though divorce is becoming more common in Asian countries, it still carries a stigma that it does not here in the U.S.

1. That girl from the second couple? Her hair? Is what I have nightmares about. Why? Why??

2. Oh my gosh, this looks freaking amazing!! I really want to watch this now.

It also makes me wonder the differences if this was done in the US. First of all, did anyone hook up behind the scenes? Cause you know they would here. I mean, come on!!

1. I know right? I would be horrified to have that haircut, but strangely it fits her and I think she looks really cute with that style; I've seen old pictures of her when she had long hair and it just didn't seem to be the In Young I know and love from WGM. It's like her trademark ( ... )

Man.

I really do want to see it now. But I've got so many on my list already. I'll get to it!

I agree with the American version not translating. I think a lot of Asian dramas would never translate to US which is why I'm kinda befuddled on why they keep remaking stuff.

The latest one is My Name Is Kim Sam Soon, which I haven't seen yet, but I heard that NBC is making it into a series.

YES THANK YOU I FEEL THE SAME! The concept is like everything I've ever wanted in a reality show but never dared to ask for knowing it would probably never come true. It has all the drama tropes I love but it's more real somehow -- arranged marriage, struggling together and often with each other, and with pretty pretty people who actually have personalities behind their celebrity personas ( ... )

I'm already fantasy casting the Japanese version in my head.
Hells to the yes. And if they don't force arranged marriages on Ueno Jurie & Eita and Aoi Yuu & Shugo Oshinari, my ass will be outside the studio of NHK, TBS, Fuji TV or whichever station is airing it, with signs protesting.

I am a sucker for the reality-behind-the-celebrity-veneer trope, because OMG HAUNTED PAST HIDDEN BEHIND RED CARPET FLASHBULBS. It pushes all my buttons, seriously.Mine too SO HARD. When Shin Ae was commenting calmly in a confessional that in the beginning of her career as a model in commercials, they were usually for beauty products and only showed her from the neck up and she suffered a lot of backlash from fans after her first tv drama and they saw her entire body and saw that she was taller and curvier than the stereotypical cute tiny bird-boned Asian girl...man, I teared up because she's freaking gorgeous, all of her, and it was obvious that she didn't think so. And how she would comment upon seeing photo spreads of herself that they didn't look ( ... )
