I love the attention to detail here. How everything they do that is probably habit nowadays had to be engrained in them pre-debut as good little SM trainees. I love how you characterize the boys, and not in an entirely positive way (in a pretty negative way in a lot of parts, actually). While I'm not sure if Jonghyun is really quite that snarky, or if Key is really that much of a bitch, a lot of this just rings so true. Onew's spaciness, his craving to be part of the group, to have Key acknowledge him, Taemin's naivete and childish way of trying to prove he's not a child, Minho's passive observation of others. Also, I like how Jonghyun begins to see more of Key's good points as the fic goes on.
Minho ate like he did everything else when not forced into doing otherwise by their manager or coaches; slowly, silently, with too much deliberation. He had the suspicion that if they wouldn’t have gotten into trouble if they ever took more than the allotted half an hour to eat a meal, Minho would gladly sit at the little square table in the

Nothing could be further from the case; I love these kids like they're my little snot-nosed, preternaturally talented brothers. I wanted to show them as real and not caricatures of Umma Key, Appa Onew, Baby Taemin, etc. I wanted to show all possible dimensions of their personalities.

It's bits like this that I really enjoyed, because this is something I could so see him doing. Thanks! I really enjoyed writing the tidbits about Minho. I think he's a very interesting young guy and exemplifies the saying 'still waters run deep

Oh, I loved this so much. I agree with scylla that your attention to detail in this piece is really spot on. I held a lot of anger at Jonghyun because he seemed so cynical about things, and also Key because he just seemed like a big old bitch, and that isn't easy to do! I liked how you described Onew too, like capable of forgetting his own head if it weren't attached to his body, because that's really how I see him too.
Thanks so much for reading and I'm glad you liked it!
Yes, I think I heightened some of the members' characterizations for dramatic effect, but I do see those qualities in some of them. I wanted to show all possible dimensions of their personalities -- both good and bad.
Why hello there, alternative SHINee characterizations and storytelling.
I couldn't stop reading this. I really wanted to, at one point (It's six in the morning, I am sleepy, haha), but just couldn't, because it was that captivating. It is just so interesting to see their personalities depicted in a mostly negative light and then have bits of positivity thrown in. It's usually the opposite in fics.
I am definitely looking forward to the next part. Excellent job so far~

wow, this fic is very detailed, and presents a different side to the boys. i can't help but be irritated with the way key acts here. if i was with them i'd probably be like jonghyun and snap at key at the perfect moments. hahaha~XD but as the story progresses, like jonghyun i could see the tender side to key: Like how Key would automatically push the salt shaker on the kitchen table closer to Minho whenever they started a meal because they all knew Minho liked to eat everything oversalted to death. Like how one morning, he had stared at Jonghyun’s earlobe - infected and painful from the nickel in an ear stud - and snapped ‘you’re bleeding,’ and whipped out a tissue from his pocket and smushed it to Jonghyun’s ear. Or how he’d started carrying Onew’s wallet in his messenger bag for Onew since their leader would forget his own head if it wasn’t attached to his body.
he’d love to be in Super Junior, be the fourteenth member since he always thought having thirteen was unluckyhahaha! this cracked me up for some reason. ^___

Yes, Key wants attention, especially from Jonghyun who isn't buying his crap. But Key also has a very caring side which I want to show as the story progresses.
And why does Super Junior have 13 members? Random number. ;)
