Today is a anniversary of sorts, but not a happy one, the date of my brother's death. It's hard to believe that he has been gone for over six years now. callie, this post is beautiful and a lovely way to remember cary. your experience is familiar to me as it happened to my mother and a friend. i regret that i had not heard the buddha story...perhaps it wound have brought some comfort to the people i knew.

i'm very touched by cary's words on the card that accompanied the shawl. thank you for sharing.

Callie, this was a beautiful memorial to your brother, Cary. I'm so sorry for your loss. Last night, I watched the movie Blade Runner and there was a line in it that reminds me of your brother - "The light that burns twice as bright burns half as long." It's small comfort to those left behind, but it sounds like he lived his life to the absolute fullest.
