Does anyone think it's strange that apparently she only told Shona she needed a break 3 days before the finale when she knew that the writers will have already began to write season 13. Surely if she wants to do other things she would have known that already. Not getting what she wanted in her contract negotiations springs to mind. No comments from ABC a bit strange.

Agreed. Really quite bizarre. I think it's admirable that folks on here and a number of other social media platforms are believing that Sara will return, but her late decision to leave will hurt her chances of a Callie return.

I doubt that Rhimes will plan her season around Ramirez's other endeavors. I reckon Callie is now the new Izzie, floating around in the world doing heck know's what, never to return to GSMH again.

Except Sara has more talent in her pinky than Heigl ever had in her whole body. This is a woman with a Tony under her belt and an expanding music career. I think she may be concentrating on that right now, which would mean many more public appearances. That wouldn't leave time for staying in LA to film Grey's if she is going to be promoting an album soon. It could also be the rumored ABC musical as that surely qualifies as a collaboration.

If it's truly a contract issue, then I think we'll see her back sooner than later, perhaps midway in season 13. I don't see how Grey's can maintain their viewing number come the fall, but maybe they will. I'm thinking Arizona will be given some interesting story's to keep the Calle/Arizona fanbase, which is great for Jessica Capshaw

Chyler Leigh is on Supergirl. It was just renewed for a second season. It's moving from CBS to the CW.
