Weird encounters with semi-celebrity

This morning I interrupted former New York Mayor David Dinkin's breakfast.

Then this afternoon the Consul General of South Africa's assistant called to schedule a face to face meeting with my boss..and she said, nah, the Consul General can call me. Okay....

My StepMother's parents were professors at Columbia, and her mother teaches Economics. My father said one time they were about to sit down to dinner when the phone rang. Bea looked irritated and answered it, listened said something about calling back,listened again and then said, "Well, he'll just have to wait. He should know better than to call at dinner."

My Dad asked her who it was and she said it was the Secretary of State (late seventies, early eighties)!

This amuses me to no end, of course.
