there was recently in article in the NYTimes as well as in Newsweek about this. to sum up: you nailed it. People don't need children, want to live their lives, and by the time they feel settled enough to have children, they only want one. Any more is too expensive and too time-consuming.

have you read about the yellowstone super volcano?? or the plates locked together off the coast of california? My money is on natural disasters.

I have thought about the kids thing a lot and kind of decided it was my job as a person to breed. I mean, not that I was super opposed to it in the first place, but I figure I should raise something that could survive a zombie attack. There are definitely boons to not taking on childeren though...

I'm thinking too hard about having kids now.

"There is no denying that people who tend to breed most are often religious, conservatively so, poorer, and less educated." Indeed...I just spent two weeks in suburbia *shudder*, and a LOT of the people I know in that area are hellbent on marriage and breeding. And most of them are younger than me! (I'm 24) WTF?! What happened to living? Why do people feel you can't be "mature" until you spawn? Half the prego girls back home aren't what I'd call mature. Gah!

Sorry for the rant and being AWOL. A lot of stuff has happened since I moved, but I would LOVE to see you. ;]
