DAMN YOU ASTRONOMERS! Do you realise how many science fair projects you've screwed up???

Is Pluto isn't a planet anymore, someone please tell me wtf it is. Space debris? A Kuiper Belt object? A weather balloon? Come on, I can't just unlearn something like that. And what about Charon? (Can weather balloons have moons ( Read more... )

Yeah, this was discussed in History class to. I thought the exact same thing you crossed off at the bottom there. :p I had read somewhere, I think of the SM sue journal, about Pluto being demoted, but, at the time, I thought it was just in the story, until I read the sporker's comment. I didn't get it at first.

Still, I guess mother just gives us nine, now. As in My Very Enthusiastic Mother Just Sent Us Nine Pickles that we used to learn the planets? That was my second thought. Hee.

See, I was never taught a mnemonic for the names of the planets, I just learned their names. (And now I'm going to have to unlearn one). ^^; Though I have seen people trying to make up their own variants, such as My Very Enthusiastic Mother Just Served Us Nachos.

I do find it interesting that we might (or have we? I don't know yet) be getting Ceres as a planet now. I don't know why that's being promoted, since I've always thought of it of an asteroid, but there you go. And then there's 2003 UB313 just past Pluto (which I think is a stupid name, if it's official; it just doesn't look right amongst the classically-named planets).
