HELP ME INTERNETS!!1

Here's the deal: I've got a job interview on Friday afternoon. I'll shamefully admit that this will be my first job, and even though I went through a mock-interview in Grade Ten for Careers class, a mock interview is not like a real interview. If you can't already tell, I'm a little nervous ( Read more... )

I don't really remember the interviews I did to get my jobs. The first one was nearly four years ago, and I can barely remember what I had for dinner. >.< Both of them, though, were basically 'when can you start?' sort of deals. In fact, I do remember my second interview, because she just checked my application, and then told me i can start that Monday. -_ ( ... )

But I like the taste of my hair, really. :P

They say relax, I know (apparently I have trouble with this, according to others) but damn that seems easier than it is. x_x I can make the noble effort, though so I guess I just have to think positive.

For some reason the role playing thing sounds like something my dad would do, and your reaction sounds like the one I would have, save for the smacking part. ;P

You're still of some help. Some advice is better than no advice at all. ;) Thanks, we'll see how it goes.

Yeah, acting relaxed and confident is the key. It's difficult, I know. But it's a customer service position so you'll want to show that you can and want to help people. Think of situations in the past that might be similar. It may be your first job, but there may have been times in school or other places where you've helped others. Think about how you'd be dressing for job and dress a notch above that for the interview. I doubt they're going to ask those oddball questions, but if they do, it's okay to laugh a little amusedly. They know they're throwing you a curve ball. Just refrain from laughing TOO much, or doing anything that would convey that you think it's an idiot question. They're more than likely going to pose a situation to you and ask how you'd handle it. Anything from how you'd handle a customer that wants something that's out of stock to a child that might be pulling everything off the shelves. So I'd say think about situations you've seen in stores, or may come up in stores, and see how you might handle them. That's all I ( ... )

Yeah, I figured relaxation was important, I just need to figure out how to relax. :P I think assuming they're going to ask me easy questions helps a bit. I'll admit I didn't think of the situation scenarios, so I'll think about that tonight.

I doubt they're going to ask stupid questions either (the case I mentioned was an independent store within a larger store), but I have to keep my bases covered. ;)

I was planning on wearing a blouse and jeans, but now that you mentioned dressing a notch above, maybe I'll use it as an excuse to wear a nice black skirt that I haven't had a chance to wear recently. ^^;

You were very helpful, thanks so much. :D We'll see how it goes. *crosses fingers*
