I had my car back for TWO DAYS after getting the transmission re-built and it started overheating. It's not driving as well as it used to either. I really miss having a car. I'm going crazy only being able to leave independently on occasion

You have my deepest sympathies on the car. I'll need to get my transmission rebuilt in 2009, I suspect, and overheating can point to expensive repairs as well.

EGL reminds me of steampunk (I wore a basic steampunkish getup for Halloween), and clearly I'm not the only one.

~ means "roughly". I'll be waking up at ~8AM. In logic, ~ means not.

The over-heating turned out to be due to the fans not turning on so hopefully just replacing them will do the trick.
There's definitely over-lapping between Steam Punk and Lolita but the styles that I would wear tend to be on the other end of the spectrum (which I guess is the "I'm a cake/rococo/another era of princess era). I like Steam Punk but there's too much bronze and the ideology does not suit me in the slightest.
Piedmont Park, also. And in Covington but only sort of.

Hmm. Have been thinking about giving the Maguire books another shot myself-- unfortunately, we got off to a bad start with Wicked. I was reading it through BookSwim and found myself mailing the book back after the first five chapters. oops.

Can't help you with the acid on the beach, but I'll at least give Lion Among Men a shot. : )

I would recommend starting again with Wicked. I enjoyed A Lion Among Men for what it was but the Lion himself was a really terrible main character.

You should read books by China Mieville! By which I mean I am going to like throw Motherless Brooklyn at you next time I see you. It's not by him at all. But Edward Norton is making it into a movie.

~ is called a tilde and it's for making ñ or for meaning "approximate" as in ~2 uses of this symbol. According to my dad who used to be a typesetter.
