Gah, I can't resist any musical related memes...and Idina is definitely my weakest spot. So here I am, filling out a meme that no one will read. Enh, why not? Got this on alexandrialee09's journal, no idea where it came from before that.

I feel the same way about choosing Elphie as my favorite Idina role. I've known so much of her work by now, and yet it just can't be helped - Idina as Elphaba wins my heart every time. My second favorite character she's played goes a little against popular opinion though, since I adore her as Florence.

Oh dear. I was afraid it would show up in google alerts. >.< I hate that. I don't want to mark my journal as totally private, because like I said, there's no point if no one can read it, but something about my stuff showing up in Google alerts scares me a little. Now I have to decide whether to keep posting for 30 days with her full name in the title or not, just for the sake of keeping it out of GA. (I do love comments though! :D Keep commenting? Please? ;P)

I love Florence too, but I HATE Chess. I watched it for the people and the not the show haha. (Or maybe, for the music and not the show, since the music is good but the storyline makes me nuts.) If I were to pick a second favorite, I'd probably end up saying Amneris...not sure why. Maybe it's because I love Aida, or cause I fangirl over My Strongest Suit, or just for that great monologue Idina delivers in the Amneris's bedchamber scene. ;)

Oops, sorry about that! Well, at least now you know it is actually showing up there, right? And sure, I'll keep commenting, if you don't mind. :)

Haha, well, I LOVE Chess! I know the plot is complicated and all over the place sometimes, but I just love all the possibilities, the characters and the music so much. And I'm probably the only one who thinks Idina is a better Florence than Julia.

I love Aida too, and even though Idina is not bad at all as Amneris, I could never really see her truly connecting with the part. Maybe if I didn't know her personality I'd be more inclined to believe her saying "I am what I wear". :P Well, that and I think Amneris belongs to Sherie Rene Scott, really.

Are you from the US or UK? Or did you only see the PBS version? I know Americans tend to hate Chess because apparently they had a different director do the original Broadway version, and he f'ed the whole thing up. It's completely different on Broadway than the UK. And no, you're not the only one. Julia and Idina are neck and neck when it comes to belting Nobody's Side, but for the character, Idina has it hands down.

I love her in Aida because it's so different. Shows off some versatility to play that Glinda-y character. But yes, Sherie Rene Scott owns Amneris. ...Actually, Sherie owns me too. But that's a little secret of ours.
