So, I was on LJ way back in the day... and for some reason, I decided to come back..
I like the more "personal" side of LJ as opposed to myspace.

Anyways, I'm a layout whore, my layout has to look how I feel it should look and let me tell you I can rock a myspace layout...uh but this whole LJ layout bullshit is COMPLETELY confusing me to the point

hell all iw anted to do was put a header at the top of my page
i found the layout i have now and like it pretty well, except i'd like to change the photo to one of me and my family, if it's possible.

I went in and changed the text for the side bar so it had stuff about me and it wont show up...when I look at it trying to edit it, it shows up but it doesnt show on the actual veiw of it...

I know basic html and JACK SHIT about CSS... I'm wanting to learn more but with everything going on right now it just makes it really hard

I'm to the point I'm about to offer up my PW and say GO FOR IT lol

It's quite possible to do all the things that you've asked for. To stay within the layout already, you'd need the header you made to be 736x516.

Here's the actually header image that they used:

Are you editing the information in the CSS that was provided? Or are you trying to edit it on your "sidebar" options?

Originally I had asked for a header code, and the 179 ways i tried it never worked, so i scrapped that and just asked for a layout... the girl who made it uses mozilla so the res was all out of whacked and no matter what way I tried to manipulate it it just wasn't the way I liked so I scrapped that too

I found this girl who does premades, which is the one I have now...and absolutely love.
The only thing I wanted to do was replace the photo (which i havent even attempted yet... can I do that by simply replacing that above image address with my own?

I edited the sidebar in the CSS I was given. Is that wrong?

And what I just noticed was when I look at my friends page all the text is all the way on the right hand side. I didnt have this problem when i first entered the CSS

Let me just note now THANK YOU IMENSELY for the help lol... I can worm my way around amyspacelayout like a fucking pro but this LJ shit is just outta my leauge LOL

I can't understand the layout stuff at all now. It's all different now-a-days. I can't even get a pre-made one to work anymore.hahaha. Oh well...

the one i have WAS working until i looked and my friends page and it's all jumbled and i tried to edit my sidebar info....yea that didnt happen either LOL
