That *is* a sad state of affairs. Have you tried, point blank, to ask her what's going on? Tell her how hurtful this is, esp. this "Family vacation" that negates other friend's big day?
Confronting might be painful, but at least she will hear you and either 1) give you a reason for her lapses or 2) be passive/aggressive, lie, and not really answer.
Either way she goes, you two will have said your peace.
I am a very friendly person too, but don't have a bootle of close friends. Introverts are like that: creative loners who really enjoy being left alone. :) Never apologize for that, dearie. We give the world books and poems and music and deep thoughts that they're too busy to think.
