Went to a doctor after work about the pain in my leg I get when running. Well, a PA, really, I have to wait until November to get to see the ACTUAL doctor.  Anyway, she asked me a million questions, looked briefly at my leg and gave me three scripts. One for an x ray, even though she really doesn't think I have a stress fracture. I'm debating going ( Read more... )

I don't blame you for not wanting to do the x-ray.

You know, I recently found out the area I live in has this community center with a fitness center. I'm going to look at the facilities this weekend, but a yearly membership is $390, which comes to around $34ish a month compared to the gym I looked into at $75 a month. So, you might look into a community center to see if they have something similar.

holy cow. I could probably find a gym membership for $20/mo. We get discounts at work, too.

Yeah, I don't need a fancy gym. I wish I'd thought about this before.

Sorry to hear you're suffering - Helen and I now share a gym so we'll be joining you shortly.

I hurt my knee running last August and went to a PT and had a great experience. It was to the point where I couldn't walk up stairs, and within a few days of doing the exercises my pain level vastly declined. I hope your PT is as successful as mine was!

I hope so. I've had PT in the past with tendonitis problems in my arms, so hopefully they'll help and give me some exercises to prevent it happening again.

Definitely do the PT. If that doesn't help, then I'd try the x-ray. I am the same way about eating. During my first week at VT (New cadet week, which is comparable to boot camp) I threw up 4 mornings because we ran and did push-ups, etc before breakfast. I have to eat within an hour of getting up, and always travel with snacks to avoid "food meltdowns". I get super cranky, very tired, bad headache, but I've never blacked out. I get lightheaded sometimes, though. Rob thinks it is hypoglycemia.
