i hate it when my dad calls me princess.  I've asked him not to many many times, yet he still does it and it pisses me off.   I am SO not a princess.  grr, argh,

when I was little my dad called me his "punkin" but now any term of endearment makes me cringe. I'm not his anything anymore.

Just start calling him granddad.

No, he'd like that. He'd get all excited about having grandkids or something. Or, worse, he'd remind me that I'm nearly 32, unmarried and childless. Which, in his mind, means I'm a failure. So no, not going to call him granddad.

I should add that, in my mind, being nearly 32, unmarried and childless means that I've managed to avoid making some very bad life choices and that I excel at not getting knocked up. yay me!

So we've accepted that my proposal is acceptable in theory but are now just haggling over implementation! You could start calling him princess, or queenie, and when he queries it say "I've seen the pictures".

I'm sure psychologists would tie it into the idea that he considers himself some sort of King and that you're trapped in a medieval hierarchy. For the record, I also hate it when my Dad calls me princess.

I'm sure he means it in the nicest possible way... but then parents are always annoying, aren't they?
