Staying in the crash room was starting to get stifling, but until she had a finished hut, it wasn't like there was anywhere else for Pam to stay, and despite herself, she was almost -- but not quite -- starting to get used to it. With as strange as everything was here, it was all she could do to try to adjust right away. Otherwise, it'd just be more difficult ( ... )

"I was thinking the beach, but if you don't want to walk down that far, we can always just hang out down at the Hub. Less of a drunken walk back here." Karen gave Pam a pleased look when it seemed like she wasn't going to have to do any work to get her to go along.

"Oh, I'm fine with anything, believe me," Pam assured her, with what was very nearly a dry laugh, "as long as it gets me out of here for a while." That it was Karen who came to find her was slightly surprising, but Pam didn't want to dwell on that much. After all, she'd been told that the two of them were on good terms when she'd been there before, and with as weird as just about everyone was acting around her, she was as grateful for the company as she was the excuse to get out.

"Come on, then," Karen said, and she beckoned Pam to follow as she made her way back upstairs. "I'm thinking we should hang out at the Hub," she said over her shoulder. "There's always a good chance someone's doing some drunken karaoke, and that's always fun to watch."

Karen wondered if Pam actually knew what the Hub was, and decided explaining couldn't hurt. "The Hub's across the path, by the way. It's like an open bring your own alcohol kinda bar. Most of the time people throw parties there."
