Strangely, I was thinking about The Progression of Justin on my way home today. "Riddle" came up on my iPod, followed by "Futuresex/Lovesounds" and I was fascinating by the changes in timbre over the years.
It's striking to me, that Justin's really, honestly, truly a pop icon of our generation. He's going in the books, you know? I feel such a sense of pride about it, it's weird. I'm proud of Justin. He accomplished what he set out to do. And truth be told, I can't wait for his next album! Thinking about his progression from MMC to today is astounding. But so is thinking about Pete's progression from soccer camp to A-list. Man, the world today. Thumbs up, pop culture.
I made a sweaty-kneed Justin reference a few weeks ago. It was so hot my LEGS were sweating, and I was like, "Jeez, I'm like Justin freaking Timberlake with my sweaty knees!" My friend was all, "....?" Heh.
For the record, my favorite Justin!coif is the one he's sporting in all of the Celebrity-era promo materials: the medium-length curls, all blonde and sun-kissed.
I am taking pride in my hatred of Justin, and also coming out to say that I am no fly-by-night Justin-hater, but a hardcore, oldschool, MMC-days hater. I like to go against the wind, I guess. ;) :*
