last day in paradise

. The beaches along that shore were not as they promised. So so snorkeling and not very good for swimming. The coast is fairly rocky on the west shore so the swimming is treacherous and the turbulent water clouded up the seas and hid the fish. The first beach we stopped at DID, however, have some sea turtles kicking it along the shore. The beach was only about 20' of sand and then straight to coral and rock so it was ideal for the turtles to hang and nibble on the coral treats. I was half tempted to swim right up to them and get some good underwater camera pics but watching some other asshole with his kids harass the turtles was annoying as hell so i watched from shore about 10 ft away from them.
It began to rain (the center of this island is the "wettest place on earth" boasting 451 inches annual rainfall. And i thought Ohio was rainy.) About 10 minutes later the rain stopped and we headed into a recommended restaurant for some "island brick pizza". of course we got the ham and pineapple. good shit. after eating we found another beach, much more swimmer friendly than the last ones so we chilled there for a few hours. after the sunburn took its toll on me, we headed to our final destination, Polihale.
A 30 minute drive on a dirt road though sugar cane fields brings you to the most beautiful beach in the world. HUGE beach, HUGE mountains in the background, and AMAZING sunset. We took about 100 pictures, proclaimed our love to each other via stick-writing in the sand, and enjoyed our hawaiian sunset.
Today we check out at 10, 2 hours from now. Were both pretty bummed about leaving and the reality of "home" is creeping back in. ugh. Oh well, we have memories. We'll be back someday.
p.s. weve seen a TON of feral cats out here and they are ALL orange tabbys like Tweak. its hilarious to see the "wild version" of the fat dumbass that i have waiting at home for me.
