Wine cabinet and cantina photo

Mar 19, 2006 12:47

Yesterday I received a wine cabinet and bottles I'd ordered from the very nice Josephine of Joseirene ProductionsIt's a vibrant pink, but I plan to eventually paint it white with a marble top to match the bar. However I'm not really sure which type of paint to use at the moment - does anyone have experience at painting Barbie and other miniature ( Read more... )

Haha, where's that alien from? I love the little money cat too.

I think I've heard of people spray painting that kind of furniture, but I've never done it myself.

It's 'Abe Sapien' from the Sideshow "Hellboy" figures. I haven't actually seen the movie but I thought it was a very cool alien/demon figure - ideal as a bartender!

I've been advised to use spraypaint for car vinyl from automotive shops, so I'll give it a whirl at some point. I'll probably do the marbelizing with acrylics and lots of varnish though.

Huh, I've seen the movie but I don't remember that guy at all.

That sounds like a good idea-I've heard that some spraypaints melt plastic.

I see Gloria's wine rack cabinet :)
I repainted Gloria's kitchen and bathroom sets with the cheapest acrylic spray paint and it worked without any problems. there are some spray paints that look like a marble.
it's not finished yet but if I finish it in the nearest future I can show you some pics
and my friend painted her wine cabinet with acrylic paints and it looks great. she used a wide brush and it looks like wood now.

nice scene :)
I like your journal, do you mind if I add you?

It is indeed! :-D

I'd love to get some more of the Gloria stuff, but they don't sell it here in the UK (in fact they have a very poor selection - even the small Fashion Fever furniture items such as the space desk set aren't sold here!) and the majority of sellers won't ship overseas, or else try and courier it to you instead of using post, which means they want to charge you $35 for an $8 piece of plastic furniture! Grrrr! [/whinge]

Excellent! Thanks for letting me know it's doable. :-) I might wait until summer so I can do it outside (my flat is tiny so poisoning myself would be probable) I know how to marbleize, I did a couple of pieces of furniture a few years back, so that's not really a problem.

I would love to see photos! Wood? Cool! Tell her to post photos too! :-D

Thanks. Everyone else has a dollhouse - I have a bar. [grin]

Sure, please feel free to friend me, no need to ask. :-)

there's a toy wholesale warehouse (?) in my town and they used to have a lot of Gloria stuff. I bought all the sets for other doll collectors but never bought anything for myself cause I didn't have money. and what happened? they stopped selling Gloria furniture at all! :( I only got 3 sets and that's it :(
I see those sets on Internet auctions but I don't know where people buy them

and there aren't any FF furniture in my area but Poland is such a third world country that no wonder :| we don't even get most of the playline Barbies that are released in the US
international shipping and customs are definitely not for me :( so I feel your pain

i can't find these repainted furniture pics right now but as soon as I find them I'll post them here :)

Bummer! I hate it when things like that happen to me.

Ouch! Yep, it is pain indeed. I'm not going to the US until next year either :-P (my twin & her husband live there).

That would be great, thanks! No rush though. :-)

Love the pic's! I SO want some more Gloria furniture.. I've only got a dining set I found on eBay from a uk seller. I want the two wine racks real bad. I always spray barbie furniture with Humbrol Modellers Spray Paint - it says it's suitable for plastic kits and all sorts and has pic's of model cars and planes etc. on the can. It works fine. Here's a link to some of my customised doll rooms - the barbie stuff was all originally pink! Someone sooo needs to have a word with Babs about her colour schemes...

Oh! I recognise that bath scene! I'm sure I sent you a "that's cool!" email about it. [smile] My online sig is 'thorngrove' but I'm using the LJ of that for my food blogging, so 'caltrop13' is the name of the space station all my CY Girls live on. [grin]

Well, if I ever find a source I'll tell you - I think Josephine might have a couple left of the wine cabinets however, and her shipping was a good price - $5. Probably cheaper than Royal Mail! I also found a Gloria table, chairs and place settings set on eBayUK from styledirectuk, so you might want to keep an eye on them. They had 7 available here: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=48948&item=5671718996 and didn't seem to sell them all so maybe they have some left.

Yep. I'm OK with small amounts of pink but definitely not on absofrickinglutely EVERYTHING.
