Practical solutions

Ris and I have been debating abortion lately...it's really the only hot button I can think of where we come down on different sides of the line It's nothing that hasn't been said before, same old pro-life/pro choice mother's right/babies rights debate. Odds are that niether one of us is going to switch sides, so I suppose it's mostly just empty ( Read more... )

People always bring up that argument about how this method could be used to exclude whole races or certain types of people from the gene pool. The race issue is definitely soemthing to be concerned about, but i do not believe that the stupid and irresponsible people of the world should have the right to breed indiscriminately. Hell, one look at my neighborhood should make that painfully obvious.

i say an easier and more likely solution is to give up on humanity. only the most brutal of fascists would ever have enough power to enforce such draconian measures, however sensible they may be ( ... )

Why not just sterlize everyone, and grow babies in tubes? We have the technological capability. children would be wards of the state, raised in precisely similar situations, to prevent negative environmental influence or unfair advantage.

To complete the picture, I suggest that current sleep learning techniques be adapted to help the children feel good about themselves, without the use of hazardous drugs.

Children need loving families to be healthy; that was one of the reasons behind this idea. I'm perfectly fine with growing babies in tubes, but then giving them up as wards of the state and raising them all the same is a little too "Imperial Storm Trooper-ish" for me. Children shouldn't all be raised the same, and definitely not in a faceless government facility, methinks... Although I do really like the idea of sleep learning for wellness. ^_^

Sweet mother of God! Am I the only one who knows from whence that quotation comes?

Huxley's Brave New World is a picture of a future imperfect society, where the idea of "Mother" and "Father" are coarse, and the terms are vulgar, within the context of this society.

It's a good, quick read, and well worth your time.

For those of you still unsure, yes, my previous post was laden with immense sarcasm, as Hawaii or Japan is with coastlines.

sorry. forget emoticons, the interwebnet needs sarcasticons. still, it isn't that far a jump from pc-liberalism to orwellian fascism. funny how "liberals" are much more likely to tell people what thay can't say or feel or think. but, it's a matter of semantics, and voting is nothing more than masturbation.
liberal,conservative-it's all the same tired games of power and domination. one wants to rule through fostering dependence, one wants to rule through intimidation.
is anarchy really that bad an idea, after we take a good long look at the real value of human life?
