 In my hunt for keep-me-alive-at-grad-school jobs, I found a posting for a staff writer/copy editor that asked for "a paragraph telling us what [sic] your favorite movie character is and why."

Now, this is a bit long for a paragraph, but I think I like it enough to keep. Let me know what you think.

I think the people reading this will have reached a hiring decision before that last sentence. And sometimes you've gotta roll the dice to stand out.

I was surprised to see the absence of the word "parse," though.

Oh, it's still in the resume, and they want that, too. I didn't want to rob the word of its power with overuse.

But fantastic graf on your favorite character :) And can't pick one, and am therefore having a hard time applying.
