be kind to your knees. eat well this week. get lots of rest (the most important night of sleep is two nights before your actual race). be mindful of the chafing demon. on race day, always err on the side of eating less. if anyone crowds you on the course, throw a sharp elbow into their sternum and push them over by placing your fist on their hip and applying leverage. if someone falls and it turns into a huge pileup, keep your head on a swivel. don't be afraid to draw blood. name calling, while an effective psychological ploy disrupts your breathing, and is not advised. remember always to pump your arms, ESPECIALLY when you're tired (your body's working harder when your arms aren't pumping). oh, and have fun.
