Characters: This roleplay game is open to both male and female characters. We are het, slash, and femmeslash friendly. Students are between 15 and 20 years of age (unless otherwise cleared with a mod). A player may apply for additional characters once they have been in the community one month and provided all characters are kept active. Please note in the application if you have another character already in the community. As of 10-18-09 OCs will be accepted on a conditional basis. Those PBs who are not widely known are welcome to be used as OC. Any PB widely known should be questioned before applied for, or keep their original name.
Journals: Your character must have a LiveJournal used solely for this community, with a name relating to your character. It should have a disclaimer stating that it is for roleplay purposes only. All entries must be Friends Only. You must update a minimum of once every two weeks. This is a minimum. Posting more often is strongly encouraged. It's a way for other players to keep up with what's going on outside their storylines, especially for those who live in differing time zones. Commenting is another part of character interaction and is also strongly encouraged. Please check your friends page regularly. We understand, however, that life gets in the way sometimes. If circumstances arise that makes it impossible for you to update, please contact a mod. Also, post OOC if you plan to be away for a period of time so other players know. (There will be game wide leeway given during Finals, Holidays, and other trying times. We are understanding, but this is not a free pass to abandon for a month and just decide to come back. This is understanding that sometimes you will be on less during these times.)
RP style: This game utilizes storybook style roleplay, primarily on AIM. If you'd like to supplement your roleplay, you may do so via email, Google Documents, or threading. However, you must have an AIM account to join this community and you must be available to roleplay on it. Also, if two players would like to play together using another roleplay style, that's fine as long as both agree. For practical purposes, you should assume everyone uses storybook, and if you are not comfortable with storybook roleplay, this is not the community for you.
Grammar and spelling: Please make an effort to use proper grammar and spelling. When a character's speaking though, it's obviously okay to use (for example) "gonna" instead of "going to" as most of us don't actually speak following the rules of formal English. Netspeak is frowned upon unless you're roleplaying an AIM chat.
OOC v. IC: When talking to another player out of character, please use brackets, commas, or slashes to keep it separate from the roleplay. If you IM someone without brackets, it is assumed you are speaking in character. Sometimes you as a player will know things your character does not. Please keep your OOC knowledge from showing up in IC interactions.
Drama: IC drama is fine. It's welcomed even. It keeps the storylines interesting. OOC drama will not be tolerated. If you are having a problem with another player, please bring it up with one of the mods.
Pregnancy and marriage: This is a high school roleplay. To keep it realistic, we are not allowing pregnancy or marriage.
God Modding: Each character belongs solely to their player. Do not try to tell someone else what their character is doing. You can only control your own character and their actions. By the same token, if you plan on a particularly dramatic storyline, make sure to get consent from the other characters involved. Anything too over the top (let's not stab Ray and set his dorm room on fire, please) is not going to be permitted. There are plenty of communities that allow outrageous storylines. This is not one of those. Again, it is high school and there should be a modicum of realism. If you have a question about a possible storyline, contact a mod.
Backgrounds and future storylines: All storylines involving questionable and sensitive issues (I.e. rape, suicide/attempts, incest, murder, ect) HAVE to be cleared with a mod. It is then your responsibility to clear it with any other player you might engage with regarding such storylines, as these issues are key triggers in real life. Failure to do one of the above mentioned will result in immediate removal from the game. This is not an option.
Classes: Each student is assigned a math, history, English, science, and physical education course based on their grade-level. They must choose three other elective courses from
this list.
Dropping a character: We understand that you may lose interest in your character. However, if you're dropping, please make an OOC post in your LiveJournal stating your intentions or contact one of the mods so we can keep our character list current.
Players: Due to adult themes within this community, we ask that you do not apply unless you are 18+. This protects everyone within the community. If you have read the rules, have a cookie. Then please put a line of lyrics from yours or your characters favorite song in the subject line of your application.
