We got some literature on our door yesterday in support of the three candidates I'm voting for: Highberger, Schauner, and Maynard-Moody. Boog Highberger and David Schauner are the incumbents, and Maynard-Moody is running for the chair that has been vacated

Why are you voting for those three for school board?

because these three are most supportive of domestic partner benefits for Lawrence USD employees. To me, it's a matter of civil rights, and these three seem supportive of that.

I am voting for those candidates, too! Horray democracy!
I just hope that things to do not the way of the developers. I moved away from Olathe because I HATED the monotony and isolation that suburbanization brings to a community; it would kill me to have Lawrence model itself off of that mess.

By the way, are you involved with any social organizations in town? I noticed that you seem very politically/socially-minded from the Lawrence lj-community, and I would very much like to volunteer my time or get involved with something.

I'm very involved with the local chapter of moveon.org.

I organize rallies/protests on occasion. The next is tomorrow night but really Solidarity! (anarchist bookstore/collective) is in charge. I just made the flyer we are handing out.

I'm peripherally involved with Lawrence Coalition for Peace and Justice, but only minimally.
