Just because CDs are overpriced doesn't mean you shouldn't buy them. Some of the money from CD purchases goes into the Music Performance Trust Fund, which provides for free LIVE music, such as the Lincoln Muni Band in the park (starting this Sunday, every Sunday through July and August, 7pm... shameless plug I know). I do a lot of downloading too, but I do less now that I learned about that... It's like shooting myself in the foot. Of course, I'm going to jump on-board the iTunes bandwagon as soon as they release the PC version. Get the tunes you want for $1 each, don't get the ones you don't want. Makes CDs cheaper cuz you don't have to get the bad tracks.

I've known about the Music Performance Trust Fund for some time, but still... a lot of it seems to be overpriced just for profiteering, and it reeks of price-fixing. Ever since i went to China and observed the wealth of $5 CDs, it's hard to convince myself to buy them in the US.
