You sold him the other half of the house you bought together. (The one he bought without consulting you.) He wanted to stay in Ramsay Street and, though you suspected that she was the reason why, you didn’t question it too much. It was none of your business anymore.
Instead you packed your bags one night and left. The sun had already set and the air grew cold as you watched the dark silhouettes of your neighbours move across the warm glow of the windows. Your taxi arrived on time and drove you away. You didn’t say goodbye to anyone.
