These models force you to delve into a menu for every little change you want to make, and that eats too much time and can be frustrating. A camera with a top screen, along with dedicated buttons for changing ISO, focus points, etc make it a lot easier to use.

I have a Canon Rebel, and I don't find that I need to use the screen for everything. It has dedicated buttons for ISO and focus points, which can be changed with the dial after the button has been pressed. That makes it easy to change the focus point while looking through the viewfinder. I have to use the menu screen to change the metering mode and the white balance.
