Sam's apartment, Boulder, CO - Afternoon

Working at a mountain gear shop wasn't exactly the future Cameron had planned, but he'd had an interview at one that morning and the manager had seemed friendly enough. He wasn't sure what to make of it however and decided that maybe he didn't want to think on it too much. It was just a job to tide him over, to get him to do something other than ( Read more... )

"I'll get it," Cameron shouted. He was nearest to the door and if Sam had her head stuck in something that could explode it was probably safest she didn't need to get up. Though, he doubted she'd actually have heard the door if that were the case.

He opened the door and while the lack of food was a bit of a bummer, it was Kawalsky and he really hadn't expected a visitor so there was a moment of surprise before Cameron grinned. "Yo!"

Kawalsky pulled off his sunglasses and took a look at Cameron. "A little bird told me there was some kid back in town who was missing his old roomie." He broke into a grin. "Good to see you, Cam." He was a little rougher around the edges, hair a little longer, but still the same old Kawalsky.

It was strange how sometimes you realised you missed someone a lot the moment they were right in front of you. Cameron looked older too, some of the idealism was gone, replaced by something harder but smile did come easier than it had a few months ago.

"Same here, man," he held out a hand to shake and pull Kawalsky inside the door at the same time. "An exotic bird?"

"Who was at the door?" Sam asked, wiping her hands on her jeans as she came out of the garage and headed right for the fridge and some cold water.

"Why don't you come over here and find out?" Cameron suggested, slightly amused.

Guzzling water, Sam wandered into the living room. "Because you might have invited a Jehovah's witness in for lunch?"

"I'll claim to be just about anything if it'll get me free food. Hey Sam."
