High days and Holidays

I have ignored it for as long as I can. Donned my polarised, wrap-around, Do-Not-Want spectacles, sung "La la la!" in a loud and irritatingly off-key manner and successfully banished all trace of it from every corner of my conscious mind*, but I can put it off no longer. I must acknowledge its existence, for it is creeping up on me as inexorably ( Read more... )

I'm sure Ohio is...er... interesting.

What do you mean if I get drunk.... (and Daughter rarely requires bribing for that sort of thing!)

I think the Husband deserves major kudos. I would go there in a heartbeat. In my case, the husband doesn't do anything to plan a trip, at all, except to grouse about all my choices once we get somewhere. Grrr.

I'm sure he was a Travel Agent in a previous life. I don't do anything - I just get given an itinerary. Which is fine by me, I'd never go anywhere if it was left up to me!

I like to think of it as my reward for all those holidays spent in a tent in Wales ;-)

My envy knows no bounds, I can't stop looking at the pictures. What an amazing place and not a red plastic chair in sight. Indeed, I think any red plastic chair would quiver in shame at sullying such a place with its miserable presence.

Good luck with Going On Holiday. Perhaps valium and gin might be a good way of getting through that part of the whole experience?

I did feel a little shame-faced when I rejected that place based on the colour and material of its kitchen chair - there is such a thing as being perhaps a little picky - but it only caused TH to redouble his efforts with greater enthusiasm. I like to think of it as being similar to throwing a stick for a dog to fetch... they enjoy it really!

Gin will certainly be administered liberally and frequently!

Thanks - I'm sure it will be quite an experience living in this place, even for a week! (although I'm sure it'll take me even longer than that to get over the feelign that I really ought to be in a tent in Wales ;-)
