A Reaction to "El Burlador de Sevilla" aka Don Juan

Spanish is a funny language. It's even been called a sexist language, although if you start looking at it with gender issues in mind, it will hurt your head. One middle school boy, when being taught about the gender of nouns, learned that anything ending in an "o" is masculine, except for some exceptions. "La" is feminine. "La mano" for "hand" is

Have you seen the opera?

I've seen bits & pieces of the opera, but it was a while ago. What I remember the most is the statue coming to life and pointing "Don Giovanni..." He does get it pretty good in the end, but wow, people use the phrase "Don Juan" in conversation as though it's sort of a compliment.
