Any suggestions for a new camera?

We need a new camera really, I love the quality of the pics the old lsr took, our digital camera doesn't take as clear pics and the zoom isn't as good. We've just had some money in and I'd like to get a new digi with good picture quality and a nice zoom.

Any suggestions?? Pretty please :) Not sure how much I want to spend, I'm open to suggestions

I love my new one..

its the canon powershot SX100IS. 8 megapixels & 10x optical zoom.
its easy to work..has dummy proof auto settings & then the manual ones arent too complicated..i play with them when i get a chance..

Thank you!!! Canon is generally more expensive here in the UK, but I managed to find a similar model (still canon and still the powershot) on offer. Having read the reviews and had it vetted and approved by Matt's camera expert workmates (rolling eyes) I've just ordered it! Yeeeeeeeeeee! :D

I have the same camera as Niks. I love it. I only use a few modes as I haven't read the manual yet but there is so much more to the camera. The still shots you can get are amazing and the video recorder is just like a high end camcorder. I think I have 3-4 friends now who went out and bought this same camera after seeing my pics.
