NEW USER ICON...greatest on livejournal? fuck yeah

After spending a lot of tonight reading various things on Blinking Lights and Other Revelations (the upcoming Eels album...out in April)...it has the potential to be one of the most beautiful records of the year.

Our discussed comeback cd...we never released a proper album...just a seven song basement demo with 2 covers (good luck finding that...bad o'phil imitations...frank talking about my mother...lots of mocking trace)...we discussed getting back together after I got sick of playing the Hutson/Peavey songs, Tim was doing asbury, and Todd Goes Mainstream was on it's last leg.

listening to these songs makes me smile...but not in a proud way. Well, sort of in a proud way. I think we always made people have a good time. Once we got 4 people to have a chug race of slushies that had EVERY flavor sonic offered, plus milk, jalapenos, and hot chocolate...just for a free copy of the basement demo. Only it wasn't a chug race, because they had to drink it through a straw. The winner took off the straw and chugged, then got sick. We called him a "rule-breaker" and threw the cd into the parking lot. We were so full of ourselves :).

I read a great quote last week that says it takes a fine mix of cockiness and loads of insecurities to make a musician. I will always love Frank and Tim. Trace was alright, too.

totally do. And yes Punkstock...we followed Ruskabank and played before O'Phil. What a fucking rough spot for a bunch of high schools sophomores and juniors. Thank Christ for my bunny suit and a semi-obscure blink 182 song that kids actually recognized. The band two bands before us (christie or something?) did a great cover of Saves The Day's Three Miles Down...I had just gotten into them and thought we were way the hell over our head. At least we didn't take it seriously...or did we?

i consider myself one of the "true fans" and trace was a douche. i think i still have a copy of the demo somewhere. the bunny suit ruled the stage.

i wish i would have gone to punk stock.
