tl;dr
Well, it seems to me that it is about time for another of those regular updates about what a Nobody is, because I keep overhearing persons asking about it. Or, more occasionally, being questioned about it myself.
For the purpose of the following educational material, keep in mind that by 'heart' I don't mean the organ currently pumping blood in most of your chests. I refer instead to a more symbolic thing -- think of 'heart' in the sense of the phrase 'heart of the matter', meaning the core essence of a thing. All creatures have a heart in this sense.
Sometimes, under some circumstances, they can lose their heart! That is not a good thing and in nearly every recorded case has been fatal for the individual. Out of the missing heart and the darkness around it, a Heartless is created. A Heartless, you see, is a particularly nasty creature driven by instinct to attempt to steal more hearts and thus create more Heartless. Many complete worlds have been lost to the Heartless in this manner.
However! Sometimes, when the person who loses their heart had particularly strong willpower as they fought against losing themselves, something else is created out of the matter that had been their body and their soul -- a Nobody. Ironically, although the Nobody almost always has their other's memories, they are no longer the same person but are a new individual. "Sucks for their originals", I suppose.
Why do I bring this up? It so happens a number of Nobodies are among you. After that near-fiasco where a young man demanded I bring out one I'm rather closely affiliated with so he could fight it for the experience, more caution seems necessary. I feel I should mention that although most Nobodies don't look human, we are still sentient. It's true that we're reputed to be emotionless shells destined to fade back into darkness, but if any start going around killing Nobodies I may be rather cross.
...So, now that you've all stopped reading about three paragraphs up, some pictures to get your attention again. There are many types of Nobodies, but the following are the ones you might see around in camp:
This is a Dusk. They're rather common.
This is a Dancer. They love to party, but watch out for walls -- they've got a good throwing arm on them.
You probably know what these are.
