I should have done this three years ago.

While I am a bit reluctant to interrupt the current atmosphere of anxiety over impending nuclear war, if hearsay and internet service announcements are to be believed, my past experiences with this camp strongly suggest that perhaps we could all benefit from a pick-me-up of sorts. After I conclude this post to the general public, you may resume your panic if you are so inclined.

[ahem.]

As many of you know, in my proper time and place in third century Wu, I am a man with heavy responsibility on my shoulders despite my inexperience and background as a simple scholar who has spent more time in libraries than amongst the people. However, I am happy to serve my kingdom with what meager service I can render. But here? In the year two-thousand-and-eight, in a territory called Louisiana in a land known as America? I am ignorant, unskilled, and yet I continue to allow these wondrous experiences to pass me by in the name of duties I can no longer perform.

So in order to dedicate myself to skills I never had the time to learn, experiences I could never allow myself to have, and the pursuit of knowledge I could never had imagined existed... I am metaphorically hanging up my swords, and I hereby announce my immediate retirement from the positions of Prime Minister and Commander-in-Chief of the Wu forces.

(As long as I reside in camp, that is. I do, after all, fully intend to resume my official duties when I return to my homeland and time.)

I will continue to do my part to ensure that things in the base run as smoothly as possible and that the combined Wu and Shu forces represented in camp continue to behave in a proper fashion, but I will no longer do so in an official capacity.

With that said, I have gathered many donuts from the mess hall, and I intend to celebrate by sharing them with others as I celebrate my first day of civilian life with a modest gathering of my fellow campers and counselors. ♥
