Guten abend.
Since there are a fair few new campers lately, not to mention the last group of counsellors who came in, it seems like a good time to bring this up. You all know, of course, that we've all been brought into this place and are stuck here. What isn't as well known is the supposed reason for people getting brought in by the Director. And ja, there is a reason, but recent events have made me think it's even less probable than before.
Basically, the idea behind campers being brought into Camp Fuck You Die is that they are all considered suspects for the murder of Stephan Debussey, the fiancee of the Director. Anyone who is under the age of twenty-one (or who came in as a camper, if that fits better) is automatically considered a murder suspect. Counsellors, for whatever reason, are not suspects in this case.
Now this, obviously, doesn't make too much sense since you are all from different worlds and times, so for one of you to have killed Herr Debussey would require at least some time and dimension hopping to do. Not to mention you'd have to have a reason to kill Herr Debussey in the first place. A couple of years back, two attorneys were hired as counsellors as the prosecution and defense on this case respectively, and started keeping files on the Debussey case. Obviously, the slight problem that came to their attention was that Herr Debussey was actually not dead, and was known to frolic around camp at times. So this murder "case" is already a bit of a misunderstanding.
More recently... that game happened, and something else came up. By his own admission, Masqué said that he was behind whatever happened to Herr Debussey, not to mention what he did with the Loudspeaker.
This could mean any number of things, but these are the important ones. One, that none of the campers are responsible for the crime; admittedly, none of us thought this was likely to be true to start with, but it's nice to have confirmation. Two, that it's possible the Director was bringing campers in under this pretense in order to bait Masqué into staying nearby, if she was aware of his involvement. I'm not sure this holds up, as new campers arrived after his... death.
In any case, as the attorney who's currently keeping track of the case in camp, I'm just going to say informally that I don't really believe anyone here is worth being called a suspect. Technically that's what you are, but I doubt anything will actually come of it. As always, if you have any new information or thoughts on the Debussey case, I'd be glad to hear them. It's not exactly the fastest track on the album, so even having just this one thing new to go on is a big plus.
