[Today, Castor is posting new signs, freshly printed, to the library walls. He looks very pleased with himself.]

CFUD Library Rules and Policy

  1. These are not guidelines: the library is a public space, designed for study and contemplation, and there are other venues more suitable to certain types of activities.
  2. The staff and volunteers are not "bit-rate tyrants" or "there to ruin your fun": they are there to provide services for all the patrons of the library, and to enforce standards of proper conduct so that all may gain the best benefit from the premises. Please listen to them, treat them respectfully, and do recall that they will use force as they see fit in extreme situations.
  3. Please treat your fellow patrons with respect. This includes trying to be as quiet and non-intrusive as possible, as well as refraining from argument or open combat within the premises. An explanation, a book of etiquette, or an escort can and will be provided for anyone who isn't clear on how this rule might work.
  4. If you don't trust your ability to keep your temper under control while armed, there is a weapons rack next to the door, and you may ask a librarian for a peace bond at any time.
  5. Similarly, do return your books on time. The catalog is a bit unstable, and we wish to give all patrons an equal chance to peruse the materials before they are unavailable.
  6. Any patrons that are caught stealing the materials will be assessed a charge for the time the book is unavailable as well as a replacement fee. If the book is returned, no replacement fee will be assessed.
  7. Anyone caught storing pornographic materials, alcohol or other contraband on the premises will be fined accordingly: this is not a warehouse of any kind.
  8. Disfigurement or damage to library property or materials while they are in the possession or control of the library patrons will also be fined as necessary. Saying "my dragon ate it" is hardly an excuse.
  9. Fines will be assessed on what the indebted can afford, and community service can be substituted at need.
  10. All fines go to supplementing the monthly book orders, which are placed in the first week of the month. Please see Shiraki-sensei if you wish to place any materials requests. The library cannot guarantee any orders, but we do try our best to accommodate our patrons needs.
  11. Please do your best to return any books you do not check out to the shelving carts: though the library has no set times for when it is opened nor closed, it does help us keep it tidy and it keeps the books in circulation more readily.
  12. Also, recall that some campers and counselors do live on the premises: their hours vary. Respect their needs, and do not intrude on their privacy, else you will be escorted from the premises. Similarly, if you reside in the library, do try to keep the noise down so that the patrons will be undisturbed.
  13. Eating, drinking, smoking, acts of fornication and the like are as frowned on in the library as in any other public space. Please refrain from the above, so that we may keep the library as a safe, tidy and orderly space.
  14. If you wish to have a small gathering or event on the premises, please inform a librarian and try to confine yourself to one of the small downstairs study areas, so that we may avoid pests.
  15. All beings are allowed on the premises as long as they are as respectful of the rules of conduct. This includes robots, talking animals and any other beings that inhabit the camp.
  16. The shelving dolls are not toys: they are performing duties as staff. Treat them with respect.
  17. If you have any questions as to facilities, catalog, read-aloud time, or any other library services, as well as clarification to these rules, please direct your questions to Shiraki-sensei, Bishop Castor, or Zhores-san, or any of the volunteer staff, and we will do our best to accommodate your needs.

  18. No shirt, no shoes, no library. You will be escorted from the premises*.

    *Except during naked day.

[ooc: as mentioned here, which also has questions if you are a regular library denizen.
