[well! you've been locked into a deceased madman's basement. nothing for it but to see if you can't escape, hm? perhaps you've even been trapped here before, but no matter. the layout has morphed into a series of passages and halls; it's more a crypt now, really, than downstairs storage. it's dark, very dark. light leaks from underneath the door at the top of the stairs, but you know that the further you walk into the basement, the more penetrating its darkness will become.

you do have the option of staying just outside the basement door. you're bound to meet more unfortunate souls that way. but if you're feeling adventurous, you could follow one of the passages further into the basement. pressing a hand up against a cold wall, you'll be able to feel your way through the maze -- if it is a maze, it's too dark to really know -- and find yourself maybe a hundred yards from where you began. you will turn the final corner and the light from the large room in front of you is almost blinding. there are other camp residents here. some look tired or sick. a bank of beat-up couches and broken chairs line the walls, leaving the center of the room to house a sole occupant.

the withered corpse of Masqué stares up at you, unblinking in death. mayhaps if you ask the others, they can tell you the significance of this man if you don't already know. if you approach the corpse -- well. let's just say you can't.

a red phone hangs on the far wall. a blue phone is to your left.]

((A mingling post for all those trapped in the manor basement. if your thread from the other post hasn't finished or you just feel like skipping directly to Masqué's Basement of Happy Fun Times, feel free to comment regardless. The blue phone can be used to dial out or in of the basement, so non-kidnapped folk? Feel free to talk. 8D The red phone is... reserved. ♥ Original painting in the link is by gunnmgally @ da.))
