[It's a sleepy, warm, slow night in camp -- the perfect kind of evening to head to the library and curl up with a nice book and some hot chocolate, or catch up with friends (quietly!).

... Or watch that kid over at one of the tables with a modest pile of books squirm, fidget, and finally quit pretending he has an attention span.]

Uuuuuugghh.

Everyone is bad at things. I certainly am.

You can't be as bad at as many things as I am.

And I doubt that you're bad at as many things as you think.

Why do you think that?

Because you're only saying "good" and "bad". Just because a person isn't great at something, doesn't mean they're bad at it either.

What does it mean?

It means you can be varying degrees of "okay" at something and that is fine. Most people are only really good at a couple things.

But some people are really good at almost everything.

Mm, but those people are rare. And then being good at something isn't as amazing anymore.

I think....If you're good at everything, why should anything you're good at matter? It's all the same and nothing stands out or is special.

Ah, I think that, well, you should pick one thing. And focus your energy at being better than really good at it. I think people who are amazing at one special thing they enjoy are more impressive than people who are good at everything.

That's why Hargreeves made me be a musician. It was the only thing I was kind of good at.

Being good at something isn't a reason to do it. And wanting to be good at anything isn't a reason to do other things either. Just do what you like and don't worry about "good" or "bad".

I shouldn't try to do what I'm best at?

N-not if you don't enjoy it. You could be good at everything there is to be good at, but if you don't enjoy any of it, you still won't be happy. That's what I think...

... I like music. Even though Hargreeves made me learn it.

If you like it, and you're really good at it, why are you so worried about being good at other things?
