A few quick questions, if no one minds my asking - which you really shouldn't given that this does, in theory, affect everyone - did anyone happen to encounter something earlier in the week, and if so, has anyone actually figured out a way of handling it? And by "handling it," I mean "destroying it in the quickest and most efficient manner possible ( Read more... )

Are you aware of its message?

It had a message?

When it attacked the hangars at least. Though it was expressed in binary code. An apology.

It would be useful to access any potential surveillance measures for the rest of the attacks. Perhaps they can be compared.

- I just got that footage. Is that what it was saying? That's odd.

Indeed. The general attack in that video suggests some level of sentience. The message suggests an involuntary compulsion. Not to mention the erratic nature of its assaults.

Do you think it's acting with something else, then?

There are numerous possibilities. Its programming could have been compromised by its clash with the barrier. It could have been reprogrammed by someone else entirely. There is also the chance that the message itself is a ruse. All we know for certain is that Sayre's groups claims to be adamant about destroying it quickly. And that raises its own questions about its capabilities.

... I've gotta say, Sayre's people wanting that thing gone is a bit alarming. It could mean any number of things.

It is likely that device would carry some memory of its attack on the barrier. Since for whatever purpose, Sayre seems to be intent on still keeping us here, it would not be information they desire us to have. There is also the question of where the device came from and what it was intended to do.

In any case, it would be in our best interest, to capture it in one piece.

Whatever it is, it's clearly complicated, which means that capturing it is definitely the best way of clearing things up one way or another.

The challenge is in doing so without endangering another of camp's residents. Not to mention that we have no way of knowing whether this compulsion will drive it toward repeat attacks if threatened. Though it seemed to fear destruction during its assault on Cornelia. Either that, or the simple notion of being trapped.

Given what I've heard from other people about the sheer indestructability of this thing, I'd wager on it being the latter.

If its directive is to attack any who encounter it, it would stand to reason that it would avoid entrapment. Which means we will have to be especially strategic in those efforts.

What have you heard from others?

The same story again and again - anyone who tried to attack it failed and failed miserably, and that thing disappeared immediately after it afflicted someone with an effect.

I know of the loss of voice and the compulsion to speak the truth. I imagine some of the talking animals I have seen around are also afflicted campers. What else is it capable of? And what is the strongest attack you have heard of being used against it?

There were sex swaps ... amnesia as well, and blindness, too. It really does run the gamut. The strongest I've heard of is someone shooting at it.
