What are we doing handcuffed to each other? Why won't conventional methods work for breaking the cuffs? How did that even happen?

There's a set of instructions--basically, it says get to know the person you're handcuffed to. Or else.

It's the or else part that's annoying, but strangely threatening at the same time.
