[Meanwhile, at the Mess Hall...]

Well-met, my campground compatriots. I understand there have been certain... developments... within the encampment of late.

I do not know what these are. Thus, I have made pancakes.

[... there are a lot of pancakes. Partake of them and share your rumors.]

There is an oncoming catastrophe. We may be called to fight. Cornelia thinks she will have need of my strength.

... I see.

Verily, I was unaware 'twas now explicitly an impending catastrophe.

The humans are reacting as if they were going to their doom.

This is not without cause, in all likelihood. When matters take this drastic a turn for the... dramatic, for want of a better term, 'tis usually indicative of the severity of the threat.

I have not had chance to use my strength for a worthy cause in far too long. I relish the opportunity.

... I shall admit to a certain curiosity to observe thee in action, milady.

It is possible you will get your chance to watch me commit violence.

True... Though 'tis all the more likely that I shall join thee in committing violence, if enemies should truly appear.

That would be unnecessary. With my strength all others are redundant!

Pride goeth, milady...

Thy strength, great though it might be, cannot defend the entire expanse of the encampment.

I meant that it would be a fool that would send us to fight in the same area, instead of defeating separate foes.

The foolishness of that course of action shall depend largely 'pon the caliber of our enemies.

If you are afraid that you cannot handle your enemies, than I will finish them for you.

Fear has naught to do with it, demon... The power of the encampment is greater than us both--and thus, a power that threatens it may well outstrip us both as well.

I have been outmatched by foes here before, and I am a greater power than thee, caged as thou art.

Watch your tongue, or I will tear it out.

I think that unlikely.

... Still. Naught is to be gained of this posturing--the true enemy lies without.
